Tenants stumble on unexploded WW2 bomb in new home

Tenants moving into a new home discovered an unexploded World War Two tank shell in a basement cubby hole, leading to the evacuation of surrounding homes.

Police were called to the house in Reuben Street, Reddish, Stockport, at 11:00 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.

A bomb disposal team then moved the explosive to nearby Woodbank Park destroy it in a controlled explosion.

Road closures were put in place and several homes evacuated as a precaution, the force added.
